Why I built BowReady

From the founder. I host short-term rentals, and I still run every clean through this app.

I did not set out to build software. I set out to stop losing evenings to turnovers.

I tried several tools to take the cleaning schedule off my plate. They fell into two groups. The expensive ones were adequate: they worked, and I paid for a lot I never touched. The cheap ones were thin, a calendar view and not much else, so I was still the person holding the whole thing together in my head.

What I actually needed

The list was not exotic. It is the same list any host with more than one place ends up writing:

No single tool did all of it at a price that made sense. The capable ones took a commission on every clean, which meant my busiest months cost the most, exactly when margin is thinnest. The affordable ones were missing half the list.

The cost that does not appear on your invoice

Some tools hand you turnover scheduling for nothing. Look at who is paying. In several of them the cleaner subscribes, and a cleaner who pays for their tools prices them into their rate. You are paying for it either way, just further down.

BowReady charges Cleaning Pros nothing, ever. There is no cost on their side to pass back to you, and no cut of the clean on mine. For the arithmetic, I wrote up what a per-clean fee adds up to over a year, and how BowReady compares to Cleaner Sync.

So I built the one I wanted

I wanted one place for the whole turnover, not a tool for each piece of it. BowReady reads the calendar your channels already publish, turns every checkout into one cleaning job, hands it to a named Cleaning Pro with a backup behind them, and reminds you both before the deadline. It never touches your bookings, your pricing, or your guests. It never moves money either: it records what you agreed and lets you mark it paid, which is a different thing, and the honest limit of what an app should do there.

I use it on my own places every week. When something is missing, I notice it the same day you would.

What changed for me

The cost stopped scaling with the work. A flat price means a heavy month costs the same as a quiet one. Four cleans or fourteen, the bill does not move.

Coverage stopped depending on me remembering. A primary and a backup on every listing, and a decline that hands the same job over on its own. I stopped finding out too late to do anything about it.

Done became something I could check instead of trust. Every completion photo carries its own timestamp, and the checklist freezes when the clean starts. I stopped driving over to look.

The record so far

Our own operating record, as of September 2026. Not customer reviews: BowReady has no ratings and never will. As a host, the record is 70+ five-star guest reviews, and reviewed by Superhosts across the US and Canada.

Where it is now

BowReady is live on iOS, Android and the web, built by Aiyanan Inc., and there is a lot of it I still want to build. If you want the longer and less technical version of how this started, I wrote about my first year of hosting and what 80 stays taught me about people.
